Valyrian dialog

Thank you for those extensive edits. I am sorry to say that in spite of all the work you put into that, I had to revert it all. Here's why:

  • I did for a long time hesitate to do Valyrian dialog pages at all, precisely because I wasn't sure if the HV and AV dialog should be separated or not. But the consensus appears to be that we are indeed going to do them separately.
  • Most importantly, the stuff posted on my blog is not official, it's just my guesses.
    • In many cases we have gotten DJP's official transcription of lines. Sometimes my transcriptions are reasonably accurate, but equally often they are dead wrong.
Most of what I place in there was straight from the quotes of Astapori Valyrian Vocabulary like:
Bezi Dovoghedhi kizir jortis me tovi si me banti, do havor dore jedhar dos. — These Unsullied have stood here for a day and a night with no food or water.. <--- Is that official?
I can edit my work and try and post it again on the Season Three Astapori Valyrian Dialogue with only lines from the Astapori Valyrian Vocabulary. The lines that are unofficial can have the Subtitles: only and a placeholder for transcript made available later. It seems that what the actors said and what was in the script seem to correspond only 70% and even your trained ear and recorded transcript deviates a fair amount. Alatari 00:26, 9 April 2014 (CDT)
      • ... now that you mention it, we really DO need to make all that stuff public. That's on the list.
You could dump the unworked up transcripts and crude drafts to sandbox pages on the project page and direct links to editors, along with some guidelines, to spread the workload out. You could even enlist the aid of some of the highly motivated editors over at the Wikia Game of Thrones wiki. Just some ideas. I'm not really a dedicated editor. I just started season 3 for the first time and am trying to catch up to season 4... Yeah, I was living under a rock. Alatari 00:26, 9 April 2014 (CDT)

Anyway, really sorry to do that to you, but I fear it was necessary --Iustinus 21:05, 8 April 2014 (CDT)

OK, so you asked:
See Talk:Season 3 Astapori Valyrian Dialogue for proposed page draft and let me know if there are ways to make the UNOFFICAL into official for inclusion. Could we insert placeholders for dialogue as:
  • Missandei: vaghó magigmíli sko vejotréi {UNOFFICIAL}

  • Missandei: (transcript not available)
First of all, it's worth mentioning that in that particular example, the first word is almost certainly vaghoma. And yes, I'm thinking we should say "transcript not available" or the like (leaving just the translation given on the show, if any), or in cases where we are reasonably certain, maybe use the {{gr}} template to grey-out the text.
Oh, duh! We DO have DJP's official transcription of this line: J’abra Vesterozia las kreni, y ivetras dori rije vaghoma gidhmilas qova j’odre. --Iustinus 15:06, 9 April 2014 (CDT)
But before we proceed, I think we should have other users weigh in on whether all the Valyrian dialog should go on one page, or whether it should be separated by dialect. I'll see if I can get that to happen.

Oh, actually, I see you've already separated out the Astapori stuff. If you're willing to go that way, why don't you just go ahead? Here's a suggestion:
  • For anything that isn't official, "comment out" the text. That way it's there if we need it for reference, but won't show up unless you're looking for it.
  • Afterwards, either Najahho or myself will add in any official transcripts we have but haven't yet made public.
    • We might also include one or two guesses using {{gr}}, as I mentioned above, but probably not
What do you think of this?
--Iustinus 11:27, 9 April 2014 (CDT)
Oh, forgot to say: yes, anything that's actually given as an example on the vocab pages is official. --Iustinus 11:12, 9 April 2014 (CDT)

You're unblocked! You can thank Ingsve for that. Do post on the talk pages, as I suggest above, before preceding with the dialog project. --Iustinus 23:32, 8 April 2014 (CDT)

Both the talk pages are unused so I'm not sure where you would like a discussion. Alatari 00:03, 9 April 2014 (CDT)
